In Malawi, African Parks manages Majete Wildlife Reserve, Liwonde National Park, and Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve under public-private partnership agreements, ensuring long-term sustainability and conservation impact.


Job Overview

The Human Resources Manager will lead and manage all park-level HR functions at Liwonde National Park. The role is responsible for ensuring compliance with labour laws, implementing HR policies, and promoting a strong organizational culture.


The Role

  •  Provide strategic and operational HR leadership
  •  Ensure compliance with labour laws and HR policies
  •  Support workforce planning and organizational effectiveness

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate HR strategies into park-level HR plans
  • Align HR initiatives with operational and conservation priorities
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and staff development
  • Maintain accurate and confidential HR records and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, contracts, and procedures
  • Manage employee relations, disciplinary cases, and grievances
  • Serve as HR contact for audits, inspections, and compliance reviews
  • Promote organizational culture, values, and employee wellbeing initiatives
  • Identify skills gaps and coordinate training programs
  • Supervise HR staff and provide guidance to managers
  • Represent HR in management meetings and external engagements

Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree or Diploma in Human Resources Management or related field
  • Master’s Degree (added advantage)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ HR generalist experience
  • Strong knowledge of Malawian labour laws and HR practices
  • Experience in audits, compliance, and employee relations
  • Proven leadership and people management skills
  • Strong organizational, communication, and advisory skills
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
