Position: Fundraising Finance Manager 


Location: Blantyre

  • DAPP Malawi is inviting suitably qualified and experienced persons to apply for the position of Finance Manager tenable at our Fundraising Division (Clothes and Shoes) at Maselema in Blantyre.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

  • The Finance Manager is responsible for timely and accurate financial accounting and reporting for the Fundraising Division as well as organizing and leading the work of a team of the Divisional Finance Staff.

Key Performance Areas:

  •  Provide overall day to day supervision of the accounts team managing Fundraising Division financial records
  • Oversee and strengthen stock management systems to ensure accurate inventory records, effective controls, timely reconciliations and minimization of stock losses and variances
  • Participate and provide adequate advisory service during budgeting process for new year or budget revisions for existing year. The support to be rendered to both Fundraising Division leadership and NHQ leadership office
  • Ensure timely production and submission of all Divisional financial reports according to specific prescribed formats, financial requirements and datelines
  • Maintaining strategic files for all key foreign suppliers and service providers i.e. ensuring completeness and up to date availability of all key documents both in hard and soft copies on server
  • Coordinating internal and external audit exercises for all Divisional financial records including adhoc spot checks & taking appropriate steps to rectify observations made as per received reports.
  • Ensure cash and bank reconciliations for all existing accounts are done by the due date after the month of transactions.
  • Ensure recording and reconciliation of all project’s staff salaries and related costs i.e. Pension & GLA, Health insurance, Tevet levy etc. are done by the due date of the month following the reporting month.
  • Ensure Divisional financial reconciliations with National HQ are done on monthly basis with total compliance to the monthly financial cut-off date.
  • Ensure total compliance or adherence to tax regulations mainly in respect of applicable Import duty, VAT, PAYE, withholding taxes on all their transactions.
  • Periodic identification of financial capacity gaps among divisional staff and devising timely appropriate measures to rectify them.
  • Periodic and continuous assessment of existing financial systems and controls and making appropriate recommendations for their improvements
  • Conducting performance appraisal for the sectional staff either on annual basis or whenever the need arises to facilitate management decisions
 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, business administration or related field coupled with either ACCA or CIMA or ICAM graduate qualifications.  
  • Minimum of 5 years practical experience in accounting assignments at Supervisory level
  • Commitment, dedication and willingness to work odd hours  
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of various accounting software including SAGE ERP 300
  • Demonstrated experience with financial management principles, tools and systems, including a high level of proficiency with computerized accounting  
  • Demonstrated written, presentation, communication and organizational skills in English
  • Capable of working against strict datelines without compromise on quality
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
