Position: Project Officer
About the Organisation
- The Diocese of Mangochi, in collaboration with Norwegian Church Aid and DanChurch Aid (NCA-DCA), the Centre for Environmental Policy and Advocacy (CEPA), and the Catholic Development Commission in Malawi (CADECOM), is implementing a Climate and Environmental Justice Accountability Project in Zomba and Mangochi. The project aims to strengthen advocacy and accountability mechanisms to promote climate and environmental justice for vulnerable communities.
Job Overview
- The Project Officer will support the implementation of project activities focused on community mobilisation, capacity building, advocacy, and monitoring to enhance climate and environmental justice.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct stakeholder sensitisation meetings
- Mobilise community participants for project activities
- Facilitate participatory field-level planning
- Conduct participant capacity assessments
- Develop and implement capacity strengthening plans
- Facilitate formation of community advocacy committees
- Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
- Develop monthly implementation plans with stakeholders
- Produce activity, monthly, and quarterly reports
- Document and share project successes, challenges, and lessons
- Support participatory reviews and replanning meetings
- Document advocacy issues throughout the project
- Represent the project at district and community forums
- Liaise with CEPA, NCA-DCA, and CADECOM offices
Safeguarding and Protection
- Sensitise participants on safeguarding policies
- Strengthen complaints and grievance redress mechanisms
Academic Qualifications
- Degree in Natural Resources Management, Community Development, Environmental Management, or related field
Experience
- At least two years’ experience working with rural communities
- Minimum two years’ experience in advocacy work
- Experience working with religious groups
Skills
- Motorcycle riding
- Computer literacy in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and virtual meeting platforms
