ABOUT THE ROLE

PIH/APZU is hiring 3 Data Technicians to support health and programmatic data collection, entry, verification, analysis, and reporting across supported facilities and community programs. You will work within the Monitoring and Evaluation, Research, Informatics and IT (MERIIT) Department, playing a critical role in ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness across electronic medical records (EMR), DHIS2, CommCare, and other platforms. This position involves close collaboration with Ministry of Health staff, clinical teams, and community-based teams to strengthen data quality and support evidence-based decision-making.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Computing, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Systems, Informatics, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 2 years of experience working with data management systems, databases, or health information systems.
3. Demonstrated experience using database query languages such as SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or related platforms.
4. Strong computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
5. Experience with OpenMRS, DHIS2, CommCare, SurveyCTO, ODK, or other electronic data collection platforms is desirable.
6. Experience working with Ministry of Health digital health systems is an added advantage.
7. Strong attention to detail, integrity, and ability to maintain data confidentiality.
8. Willingness to travel regularly to health facilities and communities within Neno District.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Support routine data collection, entry, transcription, coding, and summarization using approved tools.
2. Conduct data cleaning, verification, validation, and quality assessments across electronic and paper-based systems.
3. Resolve data discrepancies, duplicate records, and reporting errors in collaboration with relevant teams.
4. Compile, analyze, and submit routine and ad-hoc reports from multiple health information systems.
5. Support patient tracking, follow-up, and retention activities in collaboration with clinical teams.
6. Provide on-the-job mentorship and technical support to HMIS Clerks and facility staff.
7. Support integrated screening initiatives (SHARC/SHARS, SHARF) and community-based programs.
8. Travel to facilities to verify reports, review source documents, and support data quality improvement.
9. Assist with digital health initiatives, CommCare setup, and field-based data collection exercises.
10. Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
