Position: Pharmacy Assistant/Nurse Intern
Duty Station: Zomba
Reporting To: Program Manager
Key staff to work with: Operations Director, Finance Manager, Health and Nutrition Officer and Program Manager.
SCOPE OF WORK
The incumbent shall collaborate closely with the Matawale Health Centre to ensure the availability and proper administration of all medical supplies in accordance with government standard.
DUTIES AND TASKS
- Retrieving and packaging prescribed medications accurately and efficiently.
- Labelling prescription containers with appropriate instructions and warnings.
- Verifying medication quantities and expiration dates.
- Monitoring stock levels and informing pharmacists of low inventory or expiring medications.
- Conducting periodic inventory counts and reconciling discrepancies.
- Places orders for additional drugs as directed by the medical staff
- Liaises with healthcare providers and patients to obtain correct prescription information
- Take inventory of drugs on hand and record results
- Notify superiors when medication inventory needs to be replenished in a timely manner
- Maintain proper drug storage and security
- Supplies patients with information and education on their prescription
- Liaises with healthcare providers and patients to obtain correct prescription information
- Places orders for additional drugs as directed by the medical staff
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Should have a diploma in nursing or a certificate in pharmacy
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in health project management
- Extensive knowledge of the country’s Health system, policies and strategies;
- Extensive experience in holding ToT trainings and curriculum development
- Proven track record of coordinating projects involving different stakeholders;
- Demonstrated understanding of programme development with practical experiences in Project Cycle Management and Result Based Management;
- Fluency in national language(s) and English (spoken and written).
