Position: Assistant farm manager

Key requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Agribusiness, or a related field (preferred).
- Practical experience in crop or livestock production.
- Experience in farm records, stock management, or stores management is an advantage.
- Experience supervising farm workers is an advantage.
- Experience working in a school or institutional farm is an added advantage.
- Basic computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet applications.
- Strong record-keeping, data management, and organisational skills.
- Ability to supervise and work with farm workers.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, integrity, and accountability.
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and coordinating daily farm activities.
- Supervise farm workers and casual labourers as assigned.
- Support crop production, livestock management, poultry, and other farm projects.
- Monitor farm activities to ensure they are carried out according to approved plans.
- Assist with planting, weeding, harvesting, feeding, storage, and other agricultural activities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of farm activities (crop production, livestock numbers, feed usage, harvests, sales, etc.).
- Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly farm records as required.
- Prepare regular reports and updates for the Farm Manager.
- Manage and maintain the farm stores in an organised and secure manner.
- Receive, inspect, record, and safely store farm supplies and materials.
- Maintain accurate stock records and stock cards; monitor stock levels and report shortages.
- Ensure proper storage of seeds, animal feed, fertilisers, chemicals, tools, and equipment.
- Conduct regular stock checks and help prevent wastage, loss, or unauthorised use of farm resources.
- Ensure proper use and care of farm tools, machinery, and equipment; report faults or damage.
- Promote safe working practices, proper handling of chemicals, and good hygiene/biosecurity practices.
- Support environmentally responsible and sustainable farming practices (composting, biogas, etc.).
- Work collaboratively with the Farm Manager, farm workers, teachers, and students where appropriate.
